How much does drain cleaning cost in Los Angeles?

Drain cleaning from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $49, and that price includes a video camera inspection of the line. The $49 price applies to drains with an easily accessible cleanout. The final cost depends on where the clog is, how the line is accessed and how heavy the buildup is. Lines packed with grease, scale or roots may need hydro jetting, which starts at $499.

How much does water heater repair cost?

Water heater repair from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $799, and a water heater flush starts at $199. The price depends on the part that failed, whether the heater is gas or electric, tank or tankless, and access. If a repair doesn't make sense on an older unit, we'll tell you and quote a replacement.

How much does leak detection cost?

Leak detection from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $699. That covers locating the leak with electronic equipment so the repair opens as little floor, wall or yard as possible. The repair itself is quoted once we know where the leak is.

How much does hydro jetting cost?

Hydro jetting from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $499. Jetting is priced by the line being cleaned and its condition, and we run a camera so you can see the pipe before and after.

Do you offer plumbing financing?

Yes. Tuskin Plumbing offers 0% financing on qualifying jobs through our financing partner, Hearth, subject to credit approval. It's useful for bigger projects like repiping, sewer line replacement or a new water heater. Do you offer same-day plumbing service?

Yes. Tuskin Plumbing offers same-day service across Los Angeles and Orange County. Call (562) 200-1065 early in the day for the best chance at a same-day appointment.

Are you a 24-hour plumber in Los Angeles?

Yes. Emergency plumbing is available 24/7: call (562) 200-1065 any time for burst pipes, sewage backups, major leaks or gas leaks. Regular office hours are Mon–Fri 8 AM–5 PM · Sat 10 AM–2 PM · Sun closed.

What should I do in a plumbing emergency?

Shut off the water first. Most homes have a main shutoff where the water line enters the house or at the meter, and toilets and sinks have their own valves. If a water heater is leaking, turn off its gas or power and the cold-water valve on top. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas company from outside. Then call Tuskin Plumbing at (562) 200-1065.

What are your business hours?

Tuskin Plumbing is open Mon–Fri 8 AM–5 PM · Sat 10 AM–2 PM · Sun closed. Emergency plumbing is available 24/7.

FAQ

Drains & sewer lines

Question not here? Call (562) 200-1065

What's the difference between drain cleaning and hydro jetting?

Drain cleaning with a cable (snake) breaks through a clog so water flows again. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour grease, scale and roots off the entire pipe wall. Snaking is right for a simple clog; jetting is the better fix for lines that keep clogging.

How do I know if my sewer line is damaged?

Common signs of a damaged sewer line are repeat backups in the main line, several drains clogging at once, gurgling toilets, sewage smells, and soggy or sunken spots in the yard. A video camera inspection confirms it and shows exactly where the damage is.

What is a sewer camera inspection, and when do I need one?

A sewer camera inspection runs a waterproof camera through the line to show roots, cracks, sags and blockages without digging. It's worth doing before buying an older home, when drains keep backing up, or before agreeing to a sewer replacement. Tuskin Plumbing includes a camera inspection with $49 drain cleaning.

Do you offer trenchless sewer repair?

Yes. Tuskin Plumbing offers trenchless sewer options, including pipe bursting and epoxy pipe lining, along with traditional spot repairs and full replacement. Trenchless methods replace or seal the pipe through small access points, which saves landscaping, driveways and time. Whether a line qualifies depends on its condition, which the camera shows.

Why does my drain keep clogging?

Repeat clogs usually mean something in the pipe keeps catching debris: tree roots, grease buildup, mineral scale, a sag (belly) in the line or a cracked joint. Clearing the clog doesn't fix those. A camera inspection finds the cause, and hydro jetting or a repair fixes it.

FAQ

Water heaters

Question not here? Call (562) 200-1065

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

As a general rule, a tank water heater lasts about 8 to 12 years. If yours is in that range and leaking from the tank, replacement is usually the better value. Younger heaters with a bad thermocouple, gas valve, element or thermostat are usually worth repairing. Tuskin Plumbing will give you both options and an honest recommendation.

Do you install tankless water heaters in Los Angeles?

Yes. Tuskin Plumbing installs tankless water heaters, including the gas line, venting and water connections a tankless unit needs. Tankless heaters take less space and make hot water on demand, though they cost more up front than a tank.

How often should I flush my water heater?

Most manufacturers recommend flushing a tank water heater about once a year, and Southern California's hard water makes it more important. Sediment buildup makes the heater noisy, less efficient and shorter-lived. A water heater flush from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $199.

FAQ

Leaks & repiping

Question not here? Call (562) 200-1065

What are the signs of a slab leak?

Signs of a slab leak include a water bill that jumps without explanation, a water meter that moves with every fixture off, warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water, and damp or cracked flooring. Tuskin Plumbing uses electronic leak locating equipment to pinpoint slab leaks before opening anything.

How do you find a hidden water leak?

Tuskin Plumbing finds hidden leaks with electronic locating equipment that listens for and traces water moving through pipes in walls, under slabs and underground. Pinpointing the leak first means a smaller repair and less damage to your home.

When should I repipe my house?

It's time to consider repiping when you're fixing pinhole leaks again and again, the water is rusty or discolored, pressure is low across the house, or the home still has galvanized steel pipe, which was common before the 1970s. A repipe replaces the supply lines with new PEX or copper. Tuskin Plumbing offers 0% financing on qualifying repipes.

Do I need a permit to repipe or replace a water heater in LA?

In general, yes. Water heater replacements, repipes and gas line work in Los Angeles and most surrounding cities require a permit from the local building department. Requirements vary by city, so ask about permits when you get your quote. This is general information, not legal advice.

FAQ

Toilets, fixtures & disposals

Question not here? Call (562) 200-1065

Should I repair or replace a running toilet?

Most running toilets just need a new flapper, fill valve or flush valve, which is a quick repair. Replacement makes sense when the bowl or tank is cracked, the toilet is very old and uses a lot of water per flush, or it's part of a remodel.

What does a toilet reset involve?

A toilet reset means pulling the toilet, replacing the wax seal and bolts, checking the flange and setting the toilet back down level and leak-free. It fixes leaks at the base and toilets that rock. A toilet reset from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $399.

Can a garbage disposal be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Jams and tripped resets can usually be fixed on the spot. A disposal that leaks from the body, hums without spinning after a jam is cleared, or is more than about 10 years old is usually worth replacing.

Do homes in Southern California need sump pumps?

Most Southern California homes don't have basements and don't need a sump pump. Homes with basements, below-grade garages or rooms, or yards that collect water during storms do, and the pump needs to work when it rains.

FAQ

Gas lines, water quality & pressure

Question not here? Call (562) 200-1065

Can a plumber work on gas lines in California?

Yes. In California, gas piping falls under the C-36 plumbing contractor license. Tuskin Plumbing holds C-36 license #1151281 and repairs gas leaks, runs new gas lines for appliances and outdoor kitchens, and pressure-tests the work.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the house right away, don't flip switches or use anything that could spark, and call the gas company or 911 from outside. Once the utility has made it safe, Tuskin Plumbing can find and repair the leak.

Is Los Angeles water hard? Do I need a water softener?

Much of Southern California has hard water, high in calcium and magnesium. It leaves white scale on fixtures, shortens water heater life and leaves spots on dishes. A water softener or whole-house filtration system from Tuskin Plumbing protects your plumbing and appliances.

What does a water pressure regulator do?

A pressure regulator (PRV) lowers the water pressure coming in from the street to a safe level for your home. Plumbing codes generally call for one when street pressure is over 80 psi. High pressure causes banging pipes, dripping faucets, running toilets and early water heater failure.

What is a backflow preventer?

A backflow preventer is a valve that stops water from irrigation systems, boilers or other connections from flowing backward into your drinking water. Tuskin Plumbing installs and repairs backflow preventers on homes and irrigation systems.
