Should I repair or replace a running toilet?

Most running toilets just need a new flapper, fill valve or flush valve, which is a quick repair. Replacement makes sense when the bowl or tank is cracked, the toilet is very old and uses a lot of water per flush, or it's part of a remodel.

What does a toilet reset involve?

A toilet reset means pulling the toilet, replacing the wax seal and bolts, checking the flange and setting the toilet back down level and leak-free. It fixes leaks at the base and toilets that rock. A toilet reset from Tuskin Plumbing starts at $399.

Can a garbage disposal be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Jams and tripped resets can usually be fixed on the spot. A disposal that leaks from the body, hums without spinning after a jam is cleared, or is more than about 10 years old is usually worth replacing.
